Okay, I'm in Korea now. The bulk of my guns are in my safe at my dad's house in AZ. My wife was planning to drive back to AZ at one point and was going to bring my Hi-Power, her XD, my Garand, and my new AR upper there along with a few cases of ammo for them.

Now, however, it seems to make more sense for her to drive straight to Illinois. She checked with UPS about shipping the guns to my dad but they only want to send them to an FFL.

So what about IL? I know shit's jacked up there, but is there any convenient way that she could bring the guns to her parents' house in Peoria without them getting f**ked in the ass?

What are our options here? Else I'll just have my dad find a convenient FFL and cough up the transfer fees. :p

    Thanks. :)

    ugh.

    1) I feel VERY bad for you for moving to IL, if that's what you're doing
    2) Pay my 1-way plane ticket to AZ and the rental car, and I'll deliver them to her in IL
    3) ???
    4) We both profit.

    Wat. No, I don't think you're following.

    I am in Korea.
My wife is also coming to Korea in September.
Most of my guns are at my dad's.
I want all my guns at my dad's but that may be very inconvenient.
Will my wife's parents in IL get Fed in the A if my wife just brings the guns to IL on her way out of the country?

Again. 2 pistols a rifle, and a nice AR upper.

Do her parents have the FOID card? I thought that was required for any possession of anything firearms related in the State of Illinois? If they do, I'd have your wife drive them to the Missouri border and pick them up from your wife in Missouri and escort them to her parent's house. Your wife will then not be held liable for possessing firearms in Illinois without a FOID. If they do not already possess a FOID card, then shipping them to her parents via FFL will do no good anyway, as the FFL in Illinois probably won't release them to her parents without the FOID.

ETA: FOID = Firearms Owners Identification Card aka Gun License

Yah that's what I was afraid of. Faggotry. So better off springing for the FFL $$ in AZ. :p

Fuck that shit. You won't find me there until I can bring my weapons without any sort of retarded commie policies still in effect. :weak:

Oh. What about just ammo? 400 x 30.06, and about 200 x misc pistol rounds.

you are not transferring ownership of the guns so you can legally ship them directly to your father's house for storage.

Well that's what I thought but UPS says they'll only ship them to a gun business. I guess I can try to look up the US code or whatever that says that though, unless you know it offhand. :dunno:

it could be a store policy, though. you might need to go to a regional hub.

Haven't we talked about this in the past?

Peoria appears to have some laws that are more strict than the state's laws. http://www.isp.state.il.us/media/docdetails.cfm?DocID=24 And yes to have 1 round of ammo requries that you have a foid card as well.

I would also address the package to myself in care of your father. I would print the shipping label online at the UPS site and drop it off at the nearest ups hub (not store).

Sorry for the delay. I thought I had replied to this thread. Maybe I typed something but forgot to hit submit. I dunno.

I called UPS today and the guy on the phone said I was "reading into" their policy when I asked about shipping guns to myself c/o another person. I said "but UPS.com says shipping must be between licensed individuals, collectors, (blah blah blah) and other individuals otherwise in accordance with Federal laws and the ATF website clearly states I can mail myself a firearm etc etc."

No sir, you're reading into the policy. An individual can only ship to a licensee. Anyway, we went back and forth some but it looks like we're going to have to find an FFL in AZ. :sad2:

Hopefully my dad can schmooze someone by explaining the situation. He's good at that. :x:

My uncle/grandparents farm 5000 acres about an hour outside of peoria. Last time we were there, we were wanting to shoot clays. Not knowing a foid card was required for ammunition, we were shit out of luck when we got to the wal mart counter to check out. My grandfather had to dig around for 15 minutes trying to find it.

Illinois is miserable when it comes to gun laws. We went to a gun store around their house, and you couldnt even pick up or hold a gun unless you had a foid card (no out of staters)

UPS's policy isn't all that difficult to understand...
    http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resources/ship/packaging/guidelines/firearms.html

Sounds like you can ship firearms between non-FFL individuals so long as you comply with every other little rule and regulation out there.

I hear that interpretation of this policy really depends on who you talk to at the counter. I hear that it helps to know the policy and cite it. Individual clerks may have the authority to refuse shipment.

You can't go to your local UPS Store to ship firearms:

That was the plan. UPS said hell no.

    Correct.

I agree. However, the UPS hub told my wife no and if we had questions we could call the 800 number which then "interpreted" the policy in a manner inconvenient to us. :sad2:

I guess I could tell her to ship the Garand to herself at the post office. That'd save at least 1 FFL fee. :hs:

 Dammit don't you people pay attention? I'm in KOREA.

My wife was concerned about her protection since we spent $300 shipping the guns & ammo to my dad in AZ.

So I sent her off to Academy to buy a high-powered BB pistol to carry in her purse in lieu of her XD. Obviously won't pack the same whallop but should hurt like a motherbitch and give her a chance to escape the situation. :o :dunno:

Edit: Obviously she's not going to CC the BB gun in IL. It's just to *get* her there. ;)
