...heads to the full senate. Fucktards are at it again and this time they routed it through a committee they knew that they could get it out of (Public Health). As usual no grandfathering. Oh, and I love this part:

"The Illinois Senate is about to debate a ban on semi-automatic rifles and shotguns.
If passed, you would have 90 days to register* your guns with the State Police or face arrest and felony prosecution.
If you were caught with an AR-15 and 4 magazines, you’d get life in prison."

    Details here: http://www.isra.org/

*Keep in mind this is how they got rid of guns in Chicago, they didn't outlaw them, they required registration, then refused to register any handguns. Of course, this made Chicago one of the safest places on earth so I guess that was a fair trade....

I called my state senator about that. There're a couple of threads in the Illinois HTF on arfcom urging people to call.

    It's blue :dunno:

I wish Chicago would fall into the lake or seperate itself from the rest of the state and leave me alone.

yeah, but alot of other blue states arent doing this. i guess i just dont understand why they want to ban something that cant hurt a fly. i really think they dont get that criminals will always get what they want, they have no respect for the law.

Yet another reason I'm happy to leave this shithole state.

Hopefully by the time I can afford an AR (Next dec-jan), the nationwide ban won't be ineffect. If it will, looks like my CC will be rackin up some debt.

Looks like the CA law, which is about the same as the 1994 AWB. So it drags IL down to CA's level?

But you have a point - this will likely avert the usual cheap shots at CA.

Can you get life in CA for possession of an ar and 4 mags? I seriously wonder how they let stuff like this pass. It's too bad our legislators don't have to justify their actions with some kind of statistics or at least some research. Damn feel good legislation.

Any legislator that introduces a bill like this and any legislator that votes for its approval shows that they care more about results and staying in office than they do actually doing something with tangible benefits.

what if you are caught with an cali legal ar15 and 3 stripper clips?

    20 years?

how in the hell did they arbitrarily decide on 4 magazines?

and how come you suddenly cross the state line and you are legal?

    the mind boggles

It's funny but I posted this on chicagomaximaclub.net (I'm a member there with close to 2,000 posts) and my thread got locked by the administrator who hopes the ban passes so "accidents" are prevented. I sent him a PM to delete my account because I won't be coming back. I also included a final thread that said I would no longer be returning nor would I be supporting ANY of the site sponsors.

Well, technically, you can drive through there so long as it's legal at your destination and they can't do anything.:run:

my uncle lives in southern illinois, and farms the same 3000 acres that my grandparents, and their grandparents farmed. It really sucks for the people that live outside of cities, and might depend on these kind of weapons in their everyday lives. If your going to ban these type of firearms, ban them in the cities. I hate how its the people in coat and ties in the big cities that dont give 2 shits about the people that might not live the same lifestyle they do

    No. No. And no.

This is the EXACT division that is screwing the gun crowd. If you care about firearms, YOU OPPOSE THIS, REGARDLESS OF THE LOCALE. City or rural areas, it makes no difference; this ban is ill-thought out, pointless, and will end with nothing less than our founding fathers spinning endlessly in their graves, which I'm sure they're already doing.

and my point was, these lawmakers are only thinking about themselves, and not about people who might actually use/need these firearms. In no way do I support this ban

Every time they start banning shit, I feel like getting a singleshot breakdown .308 and just killing things. Guns are not the problem, people are the fucking problem. Guns are the solution to the people that kill other people.

And I would wager to guess that you would kill more people that the bank robbers did in the North Hollywood shootout...

But wait... that's not an evil looking gun? It can't kill people!
