illegal characters in XML?

    I'm trying to create an OT emoticon pack for Adium, which uses XML to store the smiley data. It's not working and I think it may be because there are illegal characters in my XML file. So far I have replaced

    > >
    < &lt;
    & &amp;

    What else should I be looking for?
