Seriously. I'm not talking the content. I love their reviews and exclusive news and shit like that....WHEN YOU FINALLY GET TO IT!

Its gotta be the absolute worst piece of shit "everything in your face except what you're looking for" website on the internet.

Underneath all of the bullshit is actually a pretty great site. But the advertisements all over the page, the advertisements between pages, the ones that pop up and COVER the page you're trying to look at....or the ones that you can't even tell are there yet until you go to click something and realize you're clicking a floating banner that wasnt fully loaded yet instead taking you to a whole new page...which, then forces you to click the back button at which point you don't end up back at the page you were just looking at, instead you end up at another advertisement screen....it's just too much to handle!

I totally understand that sites like that NEED advertisers. They live off of it. But ign has been around long enough and is large enough at this point that they should be able to tactfully display their advertising, and create a website that navigates smoothly unlike the flash ridden/overcrowded site they have...

Its really too bad that they are probably the best video game site out there underneath it all...but the amount of SHIT in your face just gets worse and worse all the time.

    Just sayin....

The only time I use IGN is if it's linked to the review through a post here, or on a blog or something. Don't have to navigate through the bullshit then.

Try Firefox + adblock + noscript.

x2. Actually I do that for all those gaming sites. Like I want to wade through wanna-be-edgy "look mom I can swear!" movie "reviews" and soft-porn that can be had at higher quality elsewhere. Stick to games.

IGN does have the BEST reviews bar none. I agree with their reviews far more than any other site.

IGN was the only big site to call out Prototype and Assassins Creed as mediocre games, and I agreed on both accounts.

EDIT: But I agree, everything other than their reviews isn't worth paying attention to.

i love IGNs podcasts, the reviews are typcally good and the content is great but i agree i used to use Gamespot just because it was easier to navigate and now the new gamespot sucks...

i just check kotaku and here from now on and get my news on games i care about from specife sources ie gtplanet.com and LBP's official forums.

Every other website on the internet related to game reviews done this too.

Personally IGN is the greatest example of a massively bloated site.

Takes about 5 mins to load even with Adblock/Flashblock installed and its choc full of crap you don't need.

If you're into reviews for games http://www.gamerankings.com or http://www.metacritic.com thats all you need.

The writing overall for "games journalism" is so fucking laughable it's not even funny. I avoid that shit... usually going by word of mouth on various forums and what I have seen and heard about the game.

It used to be all clean but advertising it tough these days so they gotta do something.

I pretty much only use the site for previews/reviews, but it's one of the better ones out there. I don't mind too much.

I go to kotaku and destructoid

Kotaku usually posts funny stuff or shit to my interests.

Destructoid has the same, but also has ALOT of funny original content related to gaming.

The reviews are hit and miss to me. Some are spot on, others are blatantly biased.
