You have no money invested in either brand.

I'd probably go canon just to see the difference.

I'd go with whatever lenses and accessories you like better. The body will make minimal difference for the average static shot.

The D300 is in a COMPLETELY different league than the 40D. You can't compare them

It doesn't matter what Nikon does anymore. Canon will always prevail . Nikon had some fantastic film stuff back in the day They're new digital stuff just seems junky, cheap and lacking. Of course this fight will continue forever. Just like Microsoft vs Mac . We both know Canon and Mac's are superior :coolugh::hsd:

I don't know, but I can say that I'm extremely pleased with the AF on the 40D. Keeper rate in football on Saturday was > 90%.

I'm really not joking lol ... We all know its true . Nikons menus are awful among a handful of other problems . Just watch a NCCA or NFL game and look who shoots Canon . Dave Hill shot a cover with a 20D . Canon's newest Digic III and even the 5D's older Digic II could have a usable 3200 ISO . Nikon's @ 800 on the D80 looks horrible .

They're new DX series lenses are complete shit . I've shot with a handful of them. They don't compare to their older more professional line up. What are you thinking Nikon !?? They need to take a step back to their film days when they actually made products worth buying .

I am once again very biased(call me another Ken Rockwell : P) but , I have shot with allot of Nikon bodies and lenses . As I said before its a owner vs. owner fight . This will continue for years on end : ).

No, you can set a custom function to momentarily switch out of LV and acquire focus by hitting the AF-ON button. Not quite the same thing as having AF in liveview.

Mainly, the 18-135 to start with ! Next in line would be the 17-55 and third is the 18-200 VR . I have allot of respect for the professional line up but , who are they kidding with these lenses .

D300, I just prefer the feel of a Nikon. I don't care for the menu options, the layout and the way everything feels on a Canon. Canon lenses bug me for some reason. and I don't understand how you {Devin} can say the menus on Nikon's are horrible...I feel the Canon menus aren't nearly as intuitive.

they're catering to the amateur line since Canon already owns the professional world. The 18-200 is a great lens considering the range and all and had the hype to prove it.

I've got no complaints about the Canon menu setup. I've never dealt with the Nikons so I can't bitch or brag about theirs, but the Canon is pretty foolproof.

I'll tell you how and its because we both have owned Nikons(in your case) and I have owned Canon's since we started shooting !

That's how everyones becomes biased . You love what you start with and you stick to your guns ! It's almost like your own child I would put it "in a sense" . :)
