what would they be? (idea stolen from that article on 10 easy bjj moves for LEOs)

better wording: if your friend was going to get into a fight and was only allowed to train 10 specific moves/techniques, what would you teach them.

i mean specifics. (a specific sweep from a specific position. a specific sub from a specific position...)

    something like this: http://www.grapplearts.com/BJJ-for-Police.htm

I would do most work from the guard or being mounted. That's the worst place to be.

    scissor sweep
    single leg takedown
trip (from guard, when opponent attempts to stand up)
    armbar from guard
    triangle from guard
headlock escape (both standing and on the ground)
    americana from mount
    2 kicks?

Assuming you can punch as well...

    Double leg td
    mount (obtaining and holding)
    RNC

closed guard (retaining and breaking posture)
    guillotine (from guard)
    triangle (from guard)
    scissor sweep (from guard)
    sit-up sweep (from guard)

    mount escape to guard
    side control escape to guard

He would be covered to attack, control, and end the fight from the feet or on the ground, but would also be covered to escape and reverse any bad situation he might find himself in.

I wouldn't try for a triangle in the street, too easy to get picked up and slammed.

Probobly for me, the only subs i would try are RNC, guillotine, and an armbar. The only reason i put a non-choke in there is that the armbar is so easy to actually snap.

not sure how basic were talking here...

    -use the guard
    -kimura from guard
    -hip bump sweep from guard
    -oompa if mounted
    -gaining/maintaining mount
    - over-under arm control inside leg trip takedown
    -RNC
    -guillotine

    add a takedown
add a technique to gain back control

im not big on going for an armbar or triangle for the slam on unknown surface reason. and what if they try to bite you? nigga aint gonna be biting my nuts!

rubber guard, the "technique" that is actually like 12 techniques rolled into one? you're cheating.

I'd worry about doing anything from guard in a street fight, especially on concrete... Not only do you have to worry about your opponent smashing your head against the pavement, but you are also in perfect position for stomps, kicks, etc if his buddies decide to jump in...

I guess if we are truly talking 1 on 1... then things like a Guillotine, RNC, arm bar (from top), or Kimura would be good submissions... I don't know enough BJJ to know what different sweeps are called, so I'd say that any sweep that will get you off your back asap will be good to learn!
