Neither. I'd hit the sperm bank every day for a year and get the 70-200 VR :mamoru:

I have the Nikon 70-300 f/4-5.6ED Nikkor Lens and its a good lens for the price. The tamron is very soft at full zoom compared to the 70-300. There are three different 70-300's so get the one that is the most expensive. Thats where the difference in glass shows.

But I do plan to sell it soon so I can get a 70-200 f/2.8 so if you can wait, get that instead. you'll thank us later!

I have seem very respectable results from both lenses.

Personally I would go for the Sigma 70-300 APO DG/Super II. I had the APO Super II and it's about as sharp as my 70-200 VR.:eek3: Very reasonably priced, too. Priced right between the Nikon and Tamron.

But if I must pick between the Nikon and Tamron. I would go with the Nikon if you can get it for around $100 or less. Save the rest for a 70-200 VR in the future.

I went with the Sigma, saved my money for the 70-200 VR and never looked back. 70-200 VR gives me a good workout too.
