WAYNE, N.J. (AP) -- Wayne police are trying to find a submachine gun that's been missing for at least a week.

The 9mm weapon can shoot 700 to 900 rounds per minute.

Deputy Police Chief John Reardon says he doubts the weapon is out in the public.

The department noticed the MP5 weapon missing during an inventory of the arsenal.

Passaic County prosecutors are investigating what happened to the weapon. It's listed as missing or stolen in a national police database.

Probably accidentally put in the trash, or dropped it in the toilet and flushed it down.

I would return it, but first I would pre-test it to see if it is an actual MP5, by shooting up all the 9mm I had!!!!
Then let them have it back dirty.

Looks like the new AWB better include police departments, we dont want them putting AWs in the hands of criminals accidentally.

There are practically no real HK MP5s in the US. Many of the clones though are pretty close, I mean it's just a stamped receiver, nothing really that special.

The Vector one isn't to bad. its the Special Weapons and Bobcats I'd avoid. If you want a real H&K you can get those too but now your talking twice the price of the Vector. For the money involved a 9mm AR and SBR stamp would be the way to go.

    I'd take a UMP over the MP5.
