If the Focus hatch comes to America, I'm going to cum in Alan Mulally's butt.

The Astra is built in Belgium and shipped here. Mad expensive, about $23k for a loaded car with only 132hp. Most of the competition offered more power and the same/better features for less money.

The Focus and Fiesta will be built in Mexico and with some additional cost-saving measures. They won't seem overpriced, and should do okay.

What remains to be seen is if any performance models cross the pond. The Focus RS is almost certainly not coming, but I think the ST could do nicely here.

The car in the original post is the Focus ST. It's packing a Volvo 5cyl turbo. Actually faster and more manageable than the old Focus RS.

I'd love to see Ford USA revive the Merkur badge and sell performance models under that name. Maybe a tweaked version of the ST.

I think they could do that with Mercury. :o The brand is pretty pointless right now. A sporty makeover would be nice, maybe aiming to undercut BMW, like Infiniti does. Jaguar's departure from under Ford, along with decreasing control over Mazda leaves a lot of room for another sporting brand.

A reskinned, slightly more sophisticated Mustang sold as a Mercury Cougar would be a nice start. Skip the 4L V6, and only offer the upcoming Ecoboost 3.5L turbo V6 and 5L V8 as powertrain options to help establish the Cougar as being a level above the Mustang. It won't be a 3-series beater in every aspect, but the relative performance bargain could entice a few people. :dunno:
