If I wired my 2ohm DVC sub to 8ohm and give it 125watts instead of 500w would it

sound good? Hit less hard? Ive heard some amps dont sound good when they run a low impedance. And ive also heard that doubling the rms wattage only adds 3db. So since the sub is rated for 250, im giving it double :noes: but if I give it half it would be ~6-7 db quieter right? Not a big deal I dont need it cranked all the time. Would sq improve a little you think?

It wouldnt sound any different except clean output would be reduced.

btw...2ohm DVC in series makes 4 ohms not 8.

no, 4ohm DVC wired in parrallel gives 2ohm and wired in series gives 8. I was saying its at 2ohm DVC right now getting 500w, therefore 4ohm would be 250 and 8ohm 125

Is it not true that some amps dont like low impedance and distort at slightly lower volumes? So your saying 2x power is better than 1/2 power? not being ignorant, just want to be sure

more power is always better than too little.

alrighty then, guess I was mis informed. Thought 2x power would distort more/easier than 1/2 as much. thx

If its a dual 4 ohm driver why did you say otherwise in the title? You need to specify coil impedances and wiring configuration. Saying 2 ohm DVC makes people think each coil is 2 ohms.

dawt. that was the first thing in my head. how the hell is a 2 ohm DVC able to run 8 ohm.
