i would have to assume someone would pick it up. i would put it up here and any other forums you are on, as well as craigslist and possibly ebay.

i'm thinking about doing the same thing, are you just going to reinstall the OS to wipe all your info off it?

I'm having the same dilemma as the TS. I bought my Macbook in August of 2007, right before Leopard came out. I never upgraded to Leopard and my Macbook is the most basic one that they had. 80 GB hard drive and no DVD burner.

My Macbook started lagging hardcore when I was in class a few weeks ago and when I restarted, it wouldn't boot regularly. It only boots in safe mode now. I don't have Apple Care and when I called Apple's Technical Support, they said I could do a fresh OS install but don't want to deal with having to do all that. I purchased a Netbook to replace it because I needed something ASAP for school.

What do you guys think? Do you think anyone would want it? And if so, what would be a reasonable price for it?

    Thanks in advance guys.

You went out and bought a netbook instead of getting a $100 external drive, run a backup, and reinstall the OS? WTF?

I was planning on getting a netbook even before the problems started, I just didn't see the urgency of getting one immediately. My macbook was starting to get incredibly heavy in my backpack in addition to all my other books I have to carry, so a netbook seemed a good alternative to my everyday use computer.

I'm pretty mac-challenged, so to speak, and Apple's technical support made it seem very difficult to take care of the problem I was having. :wtc:

sort of to get me ready mentally to just bite the bullet and sell it.

sold for 930, btw. the HDD is at home right now being zeroed out a bunch of times, he takes it tomorrow.

so i'm pretty happy about that.

i have a mini also, and might use the student ipod situation to turn my mini and macbook into a 24" imac for a marginal amount of money. not sure yet though.

Sounds like you found someone who doesn't know what they're doing. No way is a pre-aluminum macbook worth $930 anymore.

    Congratulations!

o man, i was just talking myself out of this.

    its a 1.83ghz core duo, 2gb ram (maxed), 320gb 7200 hdd, superdrive.

I think i would want 450 + shipping. I'd also be very willing to subsidize a new HDD. I'd take $35 off the price of a new drive from newegg and install it before i send the computer out.

If you're really interested let me know and we can work something out.

and as for the price of the macbook, the dood just always liked the black one :dunno:
