I bought a Canon A80, it has a cheap plastic tripod mount on it, my tripod has a metal thread on it. Obviously it got stripped in under 4 months...now I can't use my A80 on a tripod...more or less worthless to me at this point.

Anybody know if they simply place a new plastic piece in, or replace it with something that will hold up to use on a tripod?

My Optura20 has plastic threads (irritating in a high buck DV camera) but I've used it plenty without stripping it....including on a makeshift steadycam upside down running around a few times. Perhaps be more gentle? :hs:

I was plenty gentle with it. Never tightened it real tight to the tripod. I used a cheap Fuji2600 with a plastic tripod mount on the same tripod for almost 2 years without any problems. :hs:
