theres plenty of other cars available, but these are the three that appeal to me. i wouldnt be caught dead in a GTS-T Skyline (matter of fact, if i see another one today, i'll vomit)... and cars like the S15 Silvia are out of my price range (about $20k-odd AUD).

thoughts, opinions, criticism, advice, etc is appreciated. :x:
i havent owned a turbo car for about 5 years... :hs:

how about an s13 with a strawberry face? but I'd choose an mr2 out of those 3 cars, although my opinion is kind of biased.

Depends on what you really want to do and need. For drifting? The S14. For touge and practicality? The 4-door WRX. There is no compelling reason to get the tail happy MR2, especially when the other two choices do everything it can do and do it better with more interior room.

theres way too many S13 Silvias & 180SX's getting around here too.. they too are like fucking Skylines and assholes... everybodies got one. :o
the more i think about the SW20, the more ive got the feeling that my wife will get it sideways accidentally in the middle of racing someone & wreck it.. :hs: she cant drive for shit... (yet, she still races people at every opportunity)
that & my workshop tells me not to get one because theyre a bitch to work on... :wtc:

i'd like to get back into drifting (hence teh S14 being a strong contender), but ive got a thing about engines with timing chains... :mamoru:

Well, the only reason i'd get a four-door is if i had kids.
If not, then i'd go s14.

If you do have kids... be the cool dad and get the GC8.

    no, no kids... :nono:

i'm kinda the same when it comes to 4-doors... unfortunately the budget wont stretch to a 2-door STi version V yet either. :hs: (otherwise it would be an extremely tough call between one of those, and an S15 Silvia Spec R... :yum:

    decisions, decisions...

Well, I've been in all three cars and the Subie may have four doors but it doesn't feel like it and its still a fast sporty car. Its not in any way "less cool" than the Silvia.

I'd get the rex, unless you want the S14 for drifting, I wouldn't bother with the MR2.

ive heard too many bad things about the early WRX's from people in the last week or so, and even more about the MR2.

ive had a slight change of heart & im thinking about a Celica GT4 -which is a hell of a lot cheaper, so i can then afford new diff ratios, bigger turbo, intercooler, coilovers, etc etc :x:

same deal with a Subaru Legacy RS Turbo, but they look like a grandpas car... :hs:

You lucky SOB for having a choice on purchasing any of the mentioned cars. I wish we had them available...

(without all the importing, blah blah...)

dammmn you guys in australia get all the badass cars T_T

so hard to choose between the three, but i guess it all depends on what you intend on doing with the car. plus, it sounds like you and your wife will be sharing the car (?) so like you said, no tail-happy, hard-to-work-on mr2. that leaves s14 and gc8. if you need a practical car that can haul stuff yet still fun to drive, obviously the gc8. then again simple things like changing spark plugs can be a bitch on a boxer engine. on the other hand, if you want to satisfy the drift urges then s14 (even if it does have a timing chain. i mean how often do you really have to change one?). so simple.

Unless you love working on a car that is almost impossible, buy the MR2. While I love them, they're a bitch to work on.

The WRX ECU's are kind of weird with how they learn. I'd personally avoid it.

So, that leaves the S14. SR20DET powered cars are fun. But they have become the latest craze for all the little kids to get.

aw jeez. nice choices. I guess the best compromise is the GC8. Which is no slouch either.
The GT4 is nice, but pretty heavy even for an AWD car, from what I've read. But there's no doubt about it, the 3S-GTE is the win...
    beastly.

wait, changing spark plugs on a WRX is difficult? I must have missed that memo.

test drive em all, get the one that sings to you.
