If I have never lifted weights before...

    And i am bench pressing. How do I know what amount of weight to start with??

    start with the bar, do a set, add what you think you can put up, do a set, repeat till you find out what you max at

    :werd: start with the bar, add 10 pounds every set until you fail after however many reps you want to do

    Just until I fail so I should be doing lower reps higher weights or higher reps lower weights?

    most people start with 2 or 3 45 pound plates on each side, this is equal to ~90 lbs on the bench pressing machine. If your right side is stronger put four 45 lbs on that side, and 2 or 3 on the left side.
