Bose sucks because they charge too much for what they offer. Most of their stuff isnt terrible sounding, it is just way overpriced. Same thing goes for the cars. They charge rediculous amounts of money for the Bose package on new cars. However, Bose does do research on the insides of the car to get it to sound better. In some cases, the Bose system could sound better than someone who spent the same amount on a aftermarket install. It just really depends.

Bose it not the only company who makes stock systems for vehicles. Pioneer, JBL, Infinity, and Nakamichis systems are in quite a few vehicles.

I've actually started specing quite a bit of bose for audio conferencing systems. When you really think about it 'no highs, no lows' is really the iedeal thing for audio conferencing.

Lexus had them before the Lark Levinson.

Yeah, I have a bose system and it really sucks. Out of the radio and 7 speakers, only the 4 midranges and sub are bose. The head unit and tweeters are super low end clarion :ugh: Stupid people who think bose > *. I would love to have a stock system like Disconsolate described. Imagine how cleanly installed it would be

My roommate has an 03 a4 with the bose system and it sounds solid. the old saying of "no highs, no lows" doesn't really apply to his car. for most people the bose system is more then enough, but to someone willing to put some time and effort into their system their money would be better spent on aftermarket stuff.

i never understand why the crappiest products are always the most widely known and yet the best products that arent super high end audiophile only arent known..

like how everyone thinks bazooka subs are good...

Probably because they spend a much larger portion on Marketing than R&D and actual component costs.

The Bose system in my mom's E430 is one of the best car systems I've heard, aftermarket or not. Sometimes you'll pay alot for the Bose system on cheaper cars, like earlier Maximas and not get very much, but I do think Bose is capable of making very high quality, clear sounding systems.

All I would add to my mom's system is a sub and possibly a headunit, but the speakers sound sweet as is.

In the end all the bose system is is just another option with a popular name typically assosciated with good quality sound in the home audio world to use to help sell the car, does that mean thats its anywhere close to the quality of its home audio counterparts? no. Auto makers dont care about sound quality, they care about selling cars and if a brand named option will help sell it then the auto maker will use it to help push their product.

the head unit in the bose system in my acura cl is made by pioneer. the head unit is the only thing, other than the speaker locations, that i kept in my system upgrade. the bose sounded ok for a stock system, but is not as great as bose marketing makes it out to be.

Thats good that you like how it sounds, but I don't think bose makes aftermarket audio systems for cars...

And in reality, when you look behind the speaker grills, dig up the amps, and look at the head unit, it's made by clarion :mamoru:

Nissan just licensed the name from Rockford.

    this thread is old...

And Bose sucks because it's overpriced and overhyped. You're paying for all their research and their name.

I read once that B&W's flagship speaker was in more major
recording studios in the world than any other brand.
