I just got this new laptop and when I'm browsing the net, almost all of the animated .gifs will not move correctly. Some will, but a few. What's strange is that some .gifs might not even apear at all.

In Internet Options/Advanced - I have all of the boxes checked under "multimedia." THe .gifs still do not play.

    I'm running IE 6.0.2800.xxx

What can be the cause. Also some embeded pictures regardless of what format it is will not display at all. I'm thinking if I can just get the .gifs to play the pictures will show up too.

Hrmm... try making the refresh rate on your monitor a little higher.

I don't think the problem is your monitor, 60Hz is a pretty average refresh rate. It's more likely an IE problem, I know some other people on here have had trouble with images (and more specifically some had trouble with animated gifs I believe) loading in IE. I forget how they fixed it though, do a search and you'll probably find a couple threads.

Only thing I can suggest is not to use IE, but most people get mad when I suggest that :o

you can try deleting your temporary internet files, or making the cache larger. when my cache runs out of space, for some whacky reason IE turns my animated gifs into bitmaps.

try right-clicking on the pic and doing a 'save picture as..'.. see if it's a .gif

i've allocated 700 megs for temp space, which I believe to be far too much. But anywho...

I'm pretty much clueless. I'm about to start using Neoplanet or Nutscrape and hopefully it'll work within that.
