I want a gun for SSP, but the 34's are hard to find used and too many monies new. What steps, and how much cost would I be looking at to get an extended mag and slide release? is that something that has to be fitted by a smith?

The metal guide rod and and Ghost ext. mag catch are not SSP legal. You can replace both of those with Glock factory parts for about $15 total, if that. Both of these parts are drop-ins that you could do in under 2 minutes.

The trigger stuff should all be legal assuming they are not visible modifications.

would i be able to use the mag and slide releases from a 34?

how freely do the mags drop from the housing, anyway?

Not to knock the 34/35, but some including myself prefer the G22/17. The recoil is a little different, and I find the G17 easier to operated quickly.

I believe the extended mag release and slide stop are legal. Both take like 2 minutes of your time to install. Those parts are like $10 for both. If it's a weighted rod it is not legal.

    Yes.

Most drop ok, but won't drop like a 1911 or other metal magazine.

Yes. As long as they are the Glock factory parts, they're fine.

As long as they are drop free mags they just fall out.

Well with a 1911, you have a little more spring pressure that helps push the mag out. No worries though.

Seriously though, consider the smaller gun for IDPA. Mike probably has both sizes, hook up with him.

yeah, i think AB13 said he runs a 17, too. I'm definitely leaning towards it, $400 sounds pretty reasonable. and smaller would be nice in case i ever ccw'd it. although hopefully by the time my GFL gets here (2-4 fucking months :ugh:) I'll have a dedicated ccw gun in something a little bigger than 9mm.

I've NEVER had a problem with mags not dropping out of my 19 or my 26... They fall right out, plenty quick.

Oh and about that extended slide stop. I have always had a problem with my thumb bumping it causing the slide to not lock back. That is just because I am used to my thumb being really high on the frame from shooting a 1911.
