Is it okay to power an IDMAX with only 100-160watts?? I know this is a :greddy: question, but just was wondering if it's possible....

You can run it with 1 watt if you want, but you are not going to get your money's worth out of the speaker. If you are going to buy such a nice speaker, you might as well give it 400w at least.

Just about any car can handle a 1000w amplifier, as long as you spend your time playing music, and not test tones.

Or you can do what I'm gonna do and just run a 5000w Pyle amp to it. Only costed me $27 shipped, but that's because I'm very serious about car audio.

Probably not. A lot of times people think there will be a problem with the electrical system when they turn it up. But I wouldnt worry about it until you install the system and see first. Just because an amplifier puts out 1000w, does not mean it is always putting out that much power. Typically your average power demands are 1/5 to 1/10 or less of the max, because music is so dynamic.

music and RMS dont go in the same sentance :o

and kids you DONT need 1000 watts to make the ID MAX go BOOM

    650-750 is MORE than enough

what amp would you guys suggest to power an idmax v.3? Some recommendations i got were Crossfire VR1000D, Concept 1200A, and Resonant Engineering 35.1D.

What do you guys think about these amps?

i've got 1000 watts goin to each of my MAX's so i'd suggest goin at least around 700. its a really good speaker... do it some justice.
