IDE HDD and optical drive issue.

When I turn it on, the two optical drives (cd and dvd drive) don't light up and receive no power. So I'm trying to solve the issue, I unplug everything from the power supply and pull out the IDE cables.

I plug in the legacy power for the drives along with the IDE cable, power it up and the drives are now powered. So I got installing the IDE cable for the HDD and that's where the problem lies. Just having the HDD IDE cable pluggined into the mobo is causing issues.

I checked the bios for anything out of the ordinary and I can't figure it out.

Make sure the cable isn't backwards either. Used to be easy to do but harder now with those keyed connectors.

It's worked fine in the same configuration previously.

I'll see if I can flip any of them around.

And I'm not sure if it's a bad IDE cable or not, I don't have anymore laying around since it's a friends comp and mine are all SATA. :hs:
