I'd totally buy the new VW Golf if they weren't so horrendously unreliable...

At least that's what the internets tell me. :dunno: Don't trust VW electrics. They're so good looking though.

    (Plus VWs are :mamoru: )

My GTI has been rock solid for almost a year and a half now. No problems, no issues, no nothing.

Too bad Subaru let me down... :wtc: My new ride WAS going to be a WRX :hs: I guess I will have to buy used. I just have to make sure I don't buy it from ricers... :ugh2:

No. The Jettas are, but the GTI, Rabbit, and Passat are all made in Germany.

Maybe the threadstarter should be looking at a Cressida instead of a VW then.

I'm not into cars at all but I ordered a '07 Polo GTi last week because it got good reviews, preferred it's look over the Golf's (Golf GTi was out of my price range).

I haven't had my GTI for 12 years, but in 120k miles, its never given me a serious problem or stranded me.

They tend to be economy cars. What exactly would you like them to excel at?
I will say that the TDI is the best high MPG engine in the USA though. Diesel > hybrid garbage.

the mk5 has been very reliable for people, and has been out in europe quite a bit longer than it has here. I'm pretty excited about the mk5 jetta wagon that will be out next year with their new diesel. They are saying the new diesel will get 40mpg city, and 60 Highway :eek3:
It definitely needs a drop to look a little better though.
