I'm trying to install OSX in my brothers iBook. I've done it a few times on my Powerbook, and eMac. But it just doesn't seem to want to go into his iBook.

I've tried holding C while booting, and it won't boot off of it. For some reason it doesn't work in Mac OS 9.2 either, like you can see the files, but you can't click any of them because they don't work.

It's an G3 800, w/ 512MB ram, and a 40 gig hard drive... so I dunno what the problem is.

Any help you guys can offer would be supremely awesome.

    Thanks

But in that case, wouldn't it not recognize the files?

Put the DVD in and restart
    Hold down the Option key
If the disc isn't listed as one of the bootable drives, then the disc isn't being read.

That iBook does have a DVD drive right?
Can it read other DVD disc, like a DVD movie?

Try holding down Command+Option+Shift+Delete. I have to do this to boot into a Linux Live CD on my Powerbook.

if OSX is on a DVD, it won't work. It won't recognize the files or folders. Plus, if its Tiger, it will run on the iBook but it will definitely be lagging. I'd suggest Panther for it.
