ibook operating temp

    i have a widget that tells me the cpu heat.

    and right now it was just at 140 f.
    :eek3:

    wtf! that shit was hot.
    i had a usb drive connected to it but damn. i took it off and it went down to 138.

    but now its back at 142! wdf

    help! i don't think its normal for this thing to get so hot

    when i'm playing WoW it gets up to 149 with a laptop cooler underneath it. when not play it sits at ~120. right now it's at 116.

    Right now mines at 110 but its gotten a LOT higher before.

    Bro don't worry about it. If the iBook gets too hot, it will just shutdown. Your iBook won't overheat, relax.

    lol ok good thanks!

    i do get scared sometimes though because only one corner of the laptop gets really hot. to the left of the trackpad. im guessing thats where the harddrive is?

    is the processor in the upper left? That gets really hot on mine alot.

    yeah bro left of the trackpad is the hdd, and I believe the cpu is around the back left or back center

    The PSU on my AiPB15 gets pretty hot when I'm playing an intensive game. Normally sits around 95ºF. Go to your Energy Saver prefs and make sure it's set to "Normal" (the power icon in the menu bar). If it's set to "Better Performance", it locks the CPU at "Fast" and causes it to heat up quickly. "Normal" allows the processor to nap between operations... it even naps between keystrokes to save battery life. Also, quit any programs that you aren't actively using.

    My Podium Coolpad rocks this laptop's socks.
