recently added one to the collection. previously had a 1943 underwood, just added a 1944 IBM. been wanting one for awhile. as someone who works in the computer industry, having a gun made by IBM is something very cool.

I need to find better backgrounds. windshield heat reflectors :o

Underwood is the round bolt (front), IBM is the flat bolt (rear). Both are post-war rebuilds (bayonet lug, adjustable sights, flip safeties)

I traded off all my carbines.

I wouldnt buy another, unless it was an Un-Quality marked gun

Why did you get rid of your carbines? great little piece of history and fun to shoot (ammo is kinda pricey though).

I passed on an Irwin Pedersen. I bought some guns from an old timer who had a gun store in the 50s. He wanted $3K for the I-P -- too rich for me.

Weren't my cup of tea. I had 3 Inlands (1 M1A1), an IBM, a Quality, and a tons of parts. I had a knack for them when I was about 18.

I saw what collectible carbines were going for and figured Id get out and get something that I might enjoy. When I got offered $1k for my IP stock, I couldnt resist just selling them or tradig them off. But, not like I cant buy another one tomorrow if the urge comes back.

nice! I've thought about putting the pouch on, but am am worried that the back of the clasp would ding up the stock. have you found this to be an issue?

No issue at all. That's an old pic. I need to take a new one with the sling.

Honestly even if it did ding up the stock a little, it's a GI stock, it is going to have some dings. :o

Yeah they are. IIRC 5.7% or so of the carbines were made by IBM.

Whenever CMP gets them they sell out fast. :o

Not necessarily true. CMP had Service Grade IBM's for the past 5 months, they just now sold out this past week

Rockola's and Winchesters sell out the same day orders are accepted. Although they did just release a very small quantity of Service Grade Winchesters.

My Dad has been dicking around buying a garand from the CMP for awhile now but he just got a sweet lump of money from his parents, I may offer to throw some money in if there are any IBM ones available.
