I was at the camera shop today, and I asked the lady if I could see the Digital Rebel. And she gave it to me. And it felt like a match made in heaven. Sure, $1000 for a camera is pushing it slightly, especially since I'm not into photography too much. But I have been known to take some yummy pics every now and then.

Anyways, what I want to ultimately do is take pictures, get them printed and framed. On the Rebel's highest resolution (3600xsomething), how big could the pictures be when I get them printed out (and they have to be damn good quality)? I want to cover my room with my work.

    Thanks guys!

First time ever will I support a Sony product... Sony F828 > Rebel

I sold my Rebel to soon, not a single local place has the F828 in stock :wtc:

Unless you really need TTL and Lens changeability, no reason why you need a DSRL. The F828 is a winner.

it's not a DSLR,. so no. If you want to be able to do rapid fire, like the "professionals" do, get the rebel.

What was it about the Dig Rebel that made you decide to sell it and go with the 828? I've been debating this in my head for a while and haven't made a decision which one I might go with. Both have their pro's and con's obviously but I'm not sure if I want something I can just pick up and go shoot, or an SLR so I can change lenses.:hs:

you'll find out that the 828 has TERRIBLE TERRIBLE noise issues. If it wern't for that, I'd get one...

It just really annoyed me that for $1000, I couldn't fully customize my white balance, which is a feature I use alot.

Plus I could never get the feel for it and I was never a big fan of Canon :o

I work @ CompUSA in the warehouse.

Company wide, every store is sold out of thoes.
We have customers always getting pissed that were out.

Kinda suprising since its $1000 bucks.

You actually chose a Sony F828 over a dreb?

    Conclusion - Cons
Strong visible chromatic aberrations in backlit or reflections in bright sunny conditions
Higher noise levels than the current crop of five megapixel digital cameras
Potential hue shift on overexposed greens
Visible sharpening 'white halo' around black lines
Barrel distortion at wide angle (although expected of such a wide angle DC lens)
Difficult to get good macro performance without barrel distortion
Annoying shutter release locking issue where you must wait before re-pressing
Would have been nice to have Adobe RGB color space option
Average buffer size, not used for RAW or TIFF images which lock the camera during write
    No user settings / memories
No blinking highlights in histogram playback mode
Unrequired separate play mode, should have shooting priority full play mode via QV button
Very small photosite compromising image quality (marketing over quality)?

You tool. Read the manual. It has custom white balance. Let me guess, you shot in all the "idiot" modes.

After owning the F717 and seeing the horrific noise issues and purple fringing in the 828, I don't think there can be any comparison.

You can find lenses for cheaper than that! As for videos, I really don't care to take shitty quality vids for x amount of time.. I want my camera to be a camera... Not some low quality all encompasing toy...

As for photos.. It rocks.. Great quality, great features, and overall ease of use. I have the standard kit lense and the 75-300 zoom (added it to the kit for 200 bux) and can get some great shots.. Guess well see next week. :big grin:

:ugh: If you are really looking for quality then you would stick to the dreb. New lenses aren't that much money, you just have to know what you're looking for.

And the dreb does have custom white balance

Noise = part of the camera, there is nothing you can really do about it.

Its one of the big advantadges the 10D has over the D100. My D100 has little noise compared to the F717 and I still think its too noisey. The F828 samples I've seen are pretty bad.

That's what manfacturers get for trying to shove so many damn pixels on a tiny sensor. Size as always, matters.
