Some of you know that I have a 19 year old son (my third) that was born with severe cerebral palsey. He has spent almost all of his life in a long-term level two medical facility in Longview, TX because of complications with breathing, digestion, siezures, etc.

He passed away a few minutes ago. Even though he has a lot of medical issues, his death was a complete surprise. I need to go tell his mother (my ex). My #2 son is here, and my oldest son will be home from Iraq in a few days. Daniel's life was very painful, almost every day. This has been such a long, difficult road...

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. With Daniel being in pain for so much of his life, his death was a kind of sad relief.

I really screwed up when I told my ex (his mother) that he had died. I started out with "I have some bad news". She immediately jumped to the same conclusion that I probably would have if someone said that to me - that John (our Army son) had been killed. Either way, it was sad news, but like I said earlier it was also a relief.

By the way, if anyone ever needs a referral to a long-term childrens residential medical facility, the Truman W. Smith Children's Care Center, in Gladewater (near Longview), Texas is quite possibly the very best in the country. It is as close to a blend of hospital and home as you can get in a sterile medical environment.

Thanks, again. You guys are :hugot:
