    I went to a rodeo.
I went as a spectator taking pictures so theyre not as good as they could be. It was definitely more fun than I thought it would be.
    Some seriously wild stuff.
Longest lens I had was my 70-200 so some of these are cropped pretty heavily.

The ones they wrestle are normally less than a year old or maybe just over. Still an easy few hundred pounds though...And its got horns :noes:

Thanks. I wish I was able to move around at ground level. Bill Frakes took this picture of a guy bulldoggin and I really like it. I wold have needed something longer and needed to be down at ground level though :hs:

It's really not all that hard. The calfs weight maybe 100-200 lbs and all you really need to do is grab their head and twist their neck. They go down easy if you just control their neck.

the calves for calf roping weigh about that, but the steer wrestling guys have it a lot tougher.
but the bull riders are just fucking nuts. my uncle used to ride semi professionally and now he has all kinds of problems from it, constant pain in nearly every joint and a horrible back are the main ones. :o

some great shots, esp from just sitting in the stands.

believe it or not, that's about the best way to get thrown from a bull. if you go forward they try to step on you or try to get you with a horn. :eek4: those fuckers are mean enough that they will try to get you after they throw you.

I can't believe people actually go watch this crap...especially now that they wear helmets and face masks. :lame:

I think youve got your scale a little off. The little calfs that they tie up are maybe that light but the bulldoggin cows are much bigger.

Man, I haven't been to a rodeo in years...these pics bring back a lot of memories. Awesome shots, especially for just taking them from the stands.

I don't know what the hell they're called, but I've wrestled the fuckers during branding (season?) and they weren't THAT tough. Yeah, they'll knock your ass over pretty good, but there's defiantly a proper technique to it. I have to say, that was the most hick I ever got growing up in MT... lol
