[lots of exercise and eating fewer calories]

:mamoru: no but seriously, once I decided I didn't want to die of a heart attack in my 30s (I'm 29), I set out to lose the weight that's killing me.

One of things that I discovered is that I needed to ditch all the "advice" and complicated shit and keep it simple: eat less, move more.

Turns out, it's been working. It's not easy, it takes a lot, A LOT, of motivation at first. And discipline. But once I realized there's no easy way to do it, accepted it, and saw my mortality staring at me, it keeps me going.

Now I eat smaller, lower calorie meals and I work out 1/2hr in the morning (ok, sometimes 20 minutes), and 30-40min after work. And I had started out doing some resistance work and cardio, but now I'm exclusively doing cardio (I do half treadmill half ellipitical usually, sometimes all ellipitical, every once in a while all treadmill).

Now, will it work for others, I don't know. I don't even know if it will continue working for me. But it's working so far, so I'm going to keep going with it.

Hopefully it helps someone on OT that's looking for help. I know I came here when I started. There's a lot of information here, ultimately I realized it's more advanced than I need right now, so I'm posting this.

I was doing a little bit at first, and not really getting anywhere losing weight. I'm focus right now is losing weight because of my health. Down the road, yes, I WILL have to lift weights.

At your weight, i bet if you stopped cardio and hit the weights regularly, your weight loss would remain roughly the same. Assuming of course that your diet is in check.

at 300lbs, the weight should be flying off regardless of cardio

Good man, keep it up! I went from 350 to 248 (as of today) and am aiming for 225ish or whenever my stomach and sides are flat. I got a little too into lifting at one point and put on a lot of muscle so those numbers are a little distorted, but still. Don't be afraid to lift it's good for you. Whatever you do though stick with it, it's worth it.

Someone who looks reasonable in clothes but has no muscle...So youre essentially skinny lookin but have a higher bodyfat %..its what will happen if you do nothing but cardio, you will burn off what muscle you have :sad2:

and believe me dude, when you lose the weight you really dont wanna be looking at yourself and still being unhappy with what you see

Ive whored this pic out alot of me, but its motivation for you! So keep it up. Hopefully you have plenty of before pics and get afters!
If I can do it, you can do it. Also, someone in thread said cut your cardio and just lift and you will basically be fine and lose the same ammount of weight...I agree. I mostly lifted a lot and lost the weight, didnt do a TON of cardio.
