the one with Will Smith playing the superhero. Anyway, when he gets released from jail to help the swat team with the bank robbery, the swat leader says to him something to the effect of "They have heavy artillery in there, atleast a .50 cal or larger". I was like , since when does a .50 cal = heavy artillery?

Yea, but the chick in that movie (Charlize Theron) was smokin' hot, especially after being exposed for having super powers.

Reminds me of a highschool sweetheart. (sigh.....)

    Wirelessly posted via wap.offtopic.com (TELECA-/2.0 (BREW 3.1.5; U; EN-US; SAMSUNG; SPH-M800; Teleca/Q05A/INT) MMP/2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

This. I would think that to a police officer that would be heavy artillery. Just like back in the day ricers said their motor swapped Hondas were "fast cars".

  8. What ever happened to all the ricers I used to see? I don't see nearly as many as I used to. I figure a lot of them were probably understeered into barriers, but aren't kids these days making new ricers?

a lot of them got into other things. things that didn't get them killed for being reckless.

but also, in california a lot of people got out of the game as soon as dragnet started crushing cars for racing.

really, all it took was one news story of a popular car getting crushed on live tv :mamoru:

it's also attributed to the whole JDM fad which focused more on stock looking cars.

less body kits and wings, etc.

It's not proper nomenclature, but people do casually refer to small arms as "artillery". So, yes, a .50BMG would be "heavy artillery".

Even if that movie was real life I've heard that used as slang several times by lots of people.

No one literally thinks a .45acp is "heavy artillery" if they said that about a 1911.

I was an ooold school ricer. I got out of "ricing" in the Mid/late 90's after it got "comercialized" and our late night drags got flooded with noobs that attracted all the fuzz. :mamoru: fuzz

There would be 15-20 cars, hot rods, old schools and 5-6 "ricers" and we could race down our 'strip' till we ran out of gas/nos or just got tired and the sun came up. Never had to worry about the po's.

After that, more and more kids came out and we would see 2-300 cars with some ignorant folks. I was out.

Family man now, working for Microsoft pushing a 4 door domestic sedan. :mamoru: Or as Laurel puts it, the Gangster mobile. :p
