What the fuck... I was on my last DL set and the eliptical sign up sheet guru deemed it important enough to waddle out of his little cubicle of shame and inform me deadlifting wasnt allowed. I told him "Thanks" and finished my last set though. :o

    Fucking bullshit though.

    How much are you deadlifting?

Like said above, just set the weight down instead of dropping it and most people don't care.

Nothing insane as to where i would want to draw attention to myself via dropping the weights. I usually do 225, work up to 245, then finish up at 185. I like to think i maintain good form and pace so i never drop the bar. In fact i have the pegs set so i can rack it up waist level between sets.

My school's gym has a York oly lifting platform, bumper plates, and all that jazz but shit massive bricks if you "drop" a weight, you know guide it to the floor from after head, while limiting the number of bounces... pretty fucking stupid.

I was wondering because some gyms will say something to you if you are deadlifting several plates for reps, and grunting and stuff because you are adding an element of "danger and aggressiveness" to the family environment style of gym they are trying to maintain.

Yeah, 40 year old soccer moms don't like their elliptical sessions interrupted by scary guys lifting heavy weights. The elderly tend to complain as well. Oh well, one day I'll have a home gym and not have to worry about commercial gyms anymore.

the more i hear about american gyms the more i wonder. As soon as i joined my small, country gym, the owner, who is obviously a ex skinhead with injuries and can't work out, told me the 3 movements i should do is deadlift, benchpress, and squat.

Well, that is because your gym is owned by a skinhead and not some 24 year old woman who majored in exercise science and thinks all lifts should be done on a balance ball.

My gym posted a new sign with some rules that I'm pretty sure were aimed at me.

No dropping or banging of weights.
No grunting or yelling because it disturbs other customers.

Its a small 24 hour gym, I am the only person that deadlifts and squats(a2g). The area where I deadlift doesn't have rubber padding down so it can get loud when I go heavy. I think since the new rules I've been louder with the occasional grunting and banging weights.

    true!

I remember reading a chris3g post that said something along the lines "go get a routine done, anything should be fine, but if they pull out a inflatable ball they're doing it wrong", at the time it was fucking funny

I've never been told this and I can get pretty loud sometimes dropping the weight when I'm resetting on heavy low rep sets
