    :(

Just a thought I had this morning.

I remember of hearing of a few before columbine and a few since then as well. I have grown up with them through middle school high school and they seem to have gone with me and people my age to college. I know it seems bad, but I have kind of grown to think of them as a fact of life. They always shock and disgust me even scare me and make me realize that I do no understand people at all.

I can only find 2 that were in 1979 and 1985 and then something on the order of 15 since 1995 :ugh:

So have things like this been happening for a long time or is this really a failure of my generation to grow up and respect each other and to learn and respect firearms for what they are? Do we just not hear about all the gun related crime since this country was founded or have we just slowly lost any feelings of personal responsibility for our situation and our actions?

I blame it on shitty parenting. Some people are just fucked in the head and doesnt matter how good of an upbringing they've had but for the most part I think its shitty parenting

I blame it on the "not me" generation. Parenting or not, everything is nobody's fault. No personal responsibility, no sense of right and wrong, nothing.

    Suck at school? ADD.
Rape and Spit? Abused as a child.
Murder? Mommy and Daddy didn't give you enough attention.

You suck at school because you're lazy as fuck and stupid.
You raped her because you can't get hard from bestiality porn on the internet anymore.
You murdered someone because you're a pathetic piece of shit who should have been swallowed.

How's that for truth? And just how likely are you to hear someone actually call a fucking spade a spade.

    Fucking :werd:

I'm so sick of people not taking any responsibly. Parents won't admit they fucked up, and people who do this can't admit they suck at life and should have pulled the trigger on themselves first instead of taking out innocent people beforehand. I really don't know how someone can plan to do that without anyone noticing. Maybe people just don't care.

I see people like that all the time at my school, fuckers think that everything is someone else's fault. Fuck that. If I screw something up, or make a mistake, it isn't the profs fault, its my fault.

:werd: to the responsibility thing. Now a days it seems like if someone has a problem it has to be a disease (like alcoholism) and not someone's fault for choosing to take part in a certain activity.

It kills me when the issue is brought up, and everyone acts all sympathetic toward the shooters. As if not getting invited to parties justifies murder.
I'm an HS senior now, and even the biggest douchebag loser in the school doesn't have shit done to him that would even come close to justifying a shooting.

Did you guys forget about the shooter at the University of Texas in the 60s? That dude was up in a 250' bell tower and shooting down on people with high powered rifles. At that time, the officers had revolvers and shotguns that could barely reach him... they had to go home to get their own rifles!

I do remember reading about that case... I don't think he even had a scope either, just iron sights, IIRC.

I remember that... was that kent state? or was that the .gov killing all the students?

I thought he was mentioned in a song as well. Anyone know how many people he took out?

as for the subject at hand, it is true that since this kind of shooting gets sooooooooo much media coverage they're seemed to think of themselves as martyr like. does anyone know this guy's motiv? was he being all emo and just mad at the world or what?

It was in 1966 at the University of Texas at Austin. He killed 15 people and injured another 31. Among the dead were his wife and mother that he killed the night before. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Whitman#Leadup_to_the_shootings

Supposedly the asian guy had a proble with charlatans, debauchery and rich kids.

society is just taking a total shit on itself in general, i agree with everyone for the most part, in addition i think people are just too soft now-a-days, i'm only 19, but i keep being told that i have the mentality of an old-timer in that i take responsibility for my actions and that i hold people to the same standards :wtf:

People need to learn to suck it up and deal, nothing justifies the wanton massacre of people or distruction of property

nah, there have been school shootings since about the 20s. they just never saw any real publicity. With sensationalism and all people are putting things on TV for shock value. There was even a case in the 1700s or something like that.

I would also like to place a little bit of blame on religion and the repenting of sins, all you have to do is say you're sorry and it magically becomes alright in the eyes of god

That's part of the reason I left church. Not to say that I don't still hold some of the teachings of my youth (faith-based), because I do... but there's a whole slew of other shit, just like that, that basically forced me to reconsider.

i remember before columbine, it almost wasnt out of the question to see rifles or shotguns on gun racks in people's trucks at school

afterwards, you couldnt even have a leatherman (lots of fishing equipment got confiscated) :madfawk:

While this was the worst school massacre done with a firearm, the largest massacre was done back in 1928 or 29 with bombs. think the death toll was in the 40's. Crazy people exist all throughout history.

found it, 1928 Bath massacre, 45 killed
