I was hoping that since Shogun hadn't fought in the UFC and it's been a while since his last fight, that the bookmakers would underestimate him and give decent odds....

    :wtc:
    Mauricio Rua 1.26
    Forrest Griffin 3.85

oddsmakers dont pay attention to popularity of a fighter for the TUF crowd...

Yeah, the oddsmakers know about PRIDE lol.

    Bodog has it as:
    Shogun -325
    Griffin +250

    Liddell Jardine is:
    Liddell -450
    Jardine +300

  7. the - is the amount you must bet to win 100$ back, so that fighter is the overdog

the + is the amount you'll win back on a 100$ bet, so that fighter is the underdog.

    For example:
    Shogun -325
    Griffin +250

If I bet 325 on shogun, and he wins, I get back my original 325 plus 100 prize money.

If I bet 100 on griffin, and he wins, I get back my original 100 bucks, plus 250 prize money.

not sure if you knew this... .....these are very good odds. IMO Jardine has a far better chance of beating Liddell than Forrest has of beating Shogun.

Putting $650 on shogun is pretty much safe money.

I know Shogun has a very high chance of winning, I just don't care to risk shitloads of money to win hardly anything.

so you expected completely unrealistic odds that would make it easy to become rich off of. good luck with that.

a 30% payout on a next to sure thing is about as good of odds as you will find.

The Shogun odds *should* be negative.

    It'd be a $126 bet to win $100.

They use a different system of writing up odds in Australia to the US.

This is MMA where everybody has a puncher's chance and 2007 has been the year of upsets, so it's never safe or free money.

I learned that the hard way when GSP lost; $1100 down the drain thanks to a wild right hook.

which is exactly why i dont bet cash. And I agree, but as i said, its about as safe a bet as you can get. 30% return on a fighter that I think we all could agree has an 80 - 95% chance of winning. No matter what, that has to be considered a good bet.

Sorry to hear about your GSP bet, I was almost in your shoes. Back at Pride 32 i think it was, I almost put down $500 on Wandy and $500 on Gomi. My card got rejected and I was on hold for an hour trying to sort out the problem.... ....I figured it was a sign so I didn't try the bet again. thank god i didnt.

  23. The trick is to bet enough that you can keep betting in the future. If you're a somewhat better than average bettor, you'll get a net gain, but you HAVE to be able to survive your losses to let your skill play out, since you will never be able to predict fights 100% accurately.
