Yeah, I know it takes awhile but I'm more than willing to put in the effort though. One thing I'm wondering is, if I want to get big, should I be hurting after every work out? Like pains in muscles and stuff the next day ...

I went to the gym owner here in town and she gave me a routine to do but I find that I just don't really "feel it" the next day. So this week I upped my weight by 10-20 pounds in almost everything.

I can post the workout and pics if necessary.

it's happened to me. anyway, my main question still isn't answered and I did try going through the stickies - to know you're being effective in your workout, must you hurt the next day?

scrap workout, find one in here ie stickies or for those that want to be a body builder or look at some popular logs.

push yourself harder than you ever imagined
    eat
    sleep
    get bigger

(i dont know why i keep doing my posts like this)

well I think it can't hurt as long as you mix your workout up a bit each day and don't push yourself too hard without giving time to recover. that being said, I've upped my weight used and I'm lengthening my workout to get more exercises in.

it takes time, lots of time... no not weeks or a few months, or the end of summer. muscle only grows so fast, and you cant force it really. "feeling" it isnt the best way to judge a good workout. the better your nutrition and the more you sleep the less sore and/or tired you'll be. train at a pace you can handle, and know that it's something that's going to take years and decades.
