I have an Asus P4P800 Deluxe motherboard, and I can raid my IDE hard drives. I have one Ultra ATA133 Maxtor 120GB and one ATA100 Western Digital 120gb Hard Drive. Is it alright to use these two drives in an Raid 0 even though one in ATA133 and one is ATA100, or should I buy a Maxtor 120GB to match the other? Or will it be much faster than a no raid setup regardless of whether I have two ATA133 Drives? It will probably just default to ATA100 speed, right?

    Thanks :bigthumb:

I always recommend you use identical (in brand, model, and size) drives when setting up RAID 0 or 1... with that said, it should work. As you said, your controller will adjust to the slower speed.. It's also possible that with the slight difference in size, you'll waste a small amount of space.

Be sure you backup your data often if you're going to use RAID 0. Failure of either drive will result in complete data loss.
