    Wirelessly posted via wap.offtopic.com (Opera/9.60 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.2.13918/908; U; en) Presto/2.2.0)

Save up another 100 and buy the 70-200 if you are looking for a telephoto.

    What do you usually shoot?

i've seen some 70-200 f/4's going for 450ish shipped. if you want a telephoto, i'd try to push your budget up just a bit or wait til you can afford that, and get that. or get a 85 1.8, i love using it for portraits of my kids. works pretty good at the events i've used it at too. :dunno:

Is this lens any good? I've never heard anyone talk about it. Seems like everyone just goes for the 135L instead.

optically yes, very sharp. And it has the SF feature if you're into that sort of thing, but can be a normal lens also.

135L is one of the best available, slightly sharper, but faster AF, USM, MUCH better construction and all the other benefits of an L, but at 4x the cost, and a stop faster.

He's talking about the 200 prime. And they usually sell for about $600 used.

His friend got a damn good deal.

fuck, i sold my 200mm f/2.8 prime for $470......... granted it was a mk1, but still!

    Take a look into a Sigma 30mm f/1.4
and try it out first, a lot of em have focusing issues, but if you get one that focuses properly, you'll be VERY happy.
