I've just recently started watching a lot of UFC and PRIDE. It all started like 5-6 months ago when my older brother came home on leave and was talking about how the guys in his company watch a lot of it. I had watched a bit of it before then but not very much, and now I've just got really into it. And like most sports, after I start watching them I want to particpate myself. (Plus I've always wanted to be able to kick the shit out of my older brother :x: , and it should be good for me to build some muscle, im 6' 2" and only 145lbs)

Anyways, I'm transferring schools from Oakland University outside of Detroit, down to Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas. Im moving down there in 2 weeks and want something to do. I cant do much of my other hobby (ww2 reenacting) becuase there is not as much of it down there. But I dont want the ordinary karate/tae kwon do place thats full of old women and children. I found this http://www.pittmansbjj.com/ any comments? Plus it looks like they teach a class there for Tech, always a plus.

So, any comments/advice would be greatly appreciated, becuase I probably have no idea what I'm getting myself in to.

the academy looks to be affiliated with the Machados, who are respected in the BJJ community. it looks to be a legitimate school, I'd go check it out if I were you.

is there a place that lists school in every state? I'm in Kansas City and might be interested in learning some grappling.

Here are some of the comments people have to say about Pittman's Academy of Martial Arts.
"Klay’s potential is incredible, his Jiu-Jitsu IQ is one of the highest I’ve ever seen. He is an awesome Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu technician. He is a true warrior not only on the mat, but in life as well. Klay is among my best students, and one of the most technical students I have ever had. Let the world know that." - Carlos Machado

do it, you won't find much better training, especialy 2.2miles from you.

go read some articles on what to expect when you're new. check your ego at the door, you'll be schooled for a long long time. over and over. tap often, tough it out in important competition. don't get yourself injured in class.

Let me know when you are back in oakland county. I just cornered a couple of my buddies fighting out at Roop's in Rochester, and I'm gonna be fighting in the next few events.

Any machado school I have been to is legit btw.
