It's a 2000 with just over 100k on the clock; it runs great except for the fact that the 4wd binds badly if i try to pull in or out of a parking space while in 4. Anyway, the paint is all fucked up and I need a few dents pulled out of it. I'm basically planning on driving it until dies. It's nothing pretty, but it's a great winter / mountain vehicle (mechanically sound and new snow tires).

    Am I being an idiot?

Please keep in mind that this thing has very little resale value; V6, 4WD, and cruise control are literally the only options.

Yes you are. What's the point if the paint is already fucked up? You're just going to be adding a very heavy, un-aerodynamic coating to the outside of your vehicle. Just drive it till it's dead, the fuck cares how it looks.

If you're never going to sell it then it doesn't matter. It is heavy but it looks cool.... until it fades, then it just looks dirty all the time.

wow that looks like shit. I would only ever do this if my truck was at least 20 years old and already beat to crap.

There's no point to doing this at all, other than being an idiot. It adds weight, increases drag, and all you do is have this crap on the outside of your car. If you don't care about the car, why bother with the stuff? It'll look like ass no matter what. If you want the car to stay nice, this sure as hell isn't the correct way to do it either.

    Fuck it.
I'm seriously thinking of doing my Blazer with the smooth truck liner. If it's a beater, might as well have fun right?
Beats paying for a paintjob, almost indestructable against rocks, tree limbs, car doors and ex-girlfriends with keys. weight is about 80-100 lbs.

And IF you get hit my a semi and do get a scratch, you can whip out the spray can and touch it right up.

Or you can leave it alone, not give a shit about the paint, and paint it if you ever decide to give a shit about it.

did my bumpers and lower rockers with the spray on liner, looks good and tough as nails.

Some idiot hit the corner of my rear bumper over the weekend and drove off. No damage whatsoever to the bumper or the coating and the texture took off some of his paint. :big grin:

    loving it

I don't think its worth it. If anything, go from the trim down. Any then do the underbody properly to stop any rusting.

When my paint gets fucked up I have plans to rattle can it.

did the grill, bumpers, body from trim down and tailgate so far. Simple rattlecan stuff but it's tough as nails. You can see the other car's paint still on the corner of the rear bumper :big grin:

it's like 4 bucks a can. I just swing by the local AutoZone store and grab 3-4 cans when I'm in the mood to spray more. Figure i'll end up either spraying the entire thing or take it by the local rhinoliner dealer here and have them shoot the rest of it.
