    Ok,

I'm going to buy a punching bag. It's a 50 lb bag off of craigslist for $20. It looks like it's a good deal - the bag is in pretty good shape, except that the bag has a broken stabilizing strap. Can I replace that easily?

Oh, and I live in an apartment, so it's not liek i can just hook it up to my ceiling... how can i hook it up? i have the space.. just need to figure out how to set it up.

    help?

    thanks..

    guy. 5' 8" 170 lbs.

i'm getting in shape.. running 1 1/2 to 2 miles at the gym about 3x a week.
my bench max was 210 lbs a year ago - it's probably closer to 150 now....

is 50 lb bag too small?

You want your bag to be at the very least 80lbs. Being in an apartment you may have to get one that's on a stand.

Yeah like everyone is saying, it's too light. 100 lbs is ideal

I'm small, so a 80lb works alright for me. I'd also recommend a 100lb though.
When I was a kid I used canvas bank bags filled with sand, it sure helped toughen my knuckles. Hardcore :greddy:

But you still plan on getting one right ? I got this one http://store.titleboxing.com/title-power-reflex-freestanding-heavybag.html and I love it. Fish around on your local craigs list, out here there is always someone lookin to get rid of a good 80-100lb bag, its where I got mine, and the guy gave me some gloves and unused wraps with it all for $100 so you can get some good deals out there.

Just go to your local Democratic National Committee office, plenty of punching bags there.

  18. Go for the 80-100lbs. You can also just buy the bag and fill it up yourself with old clothes.

In that case avoid canvas bags with a passion, unless you dont mind having the bag stained with your blood from them gettin raw after a couple of minutes. Accord bro that was too funny

You're right in the middle of my two places of residence (LA and SD), so I can drop it off next time I go home.

About the bag: It's black, and made of leather. It's packed with...cotton i think im not sure. No seams are broken or anything, and has two support straps on top. Standard shape. Just a basic bag I guess

bumping this up, I gotta start looking for one. Probably going to look for a 100 pounder, any brands that we should stay away from?
