    I just read that if you are currently in a contract with ATT and do not own the 1st gen iPhone then you will not be able to get the 3G for 199 or 299...that sux!

    i have the att tilt and i guess i'll just have to sell it on ebay and pay the difference to get the 3g iPhone

    I know this is a couple weeks old, but where the fuck did you get your information from? anyone can buy an iPhone 3G for 199/299, with a 2 year contract of course.

    If you bought an iPhone after May 27, you can upgrade for free to a 3G by trading in your old one.

    If you bought one before that, you just renew your contract for 2 yrs.

    LOL stay on your Sprint fail boat. They just got down on their knees and begged the gov't to let them keep the IDEN network for anther few months.

    Another reality apparently
    Anything to back up this claim? Ive heard it in rumors, but everyone at att says they will be 199/299. Only thing is you cant use any other discounts you have with them.

    I dont understand paying 30/mo for a data plan for it though when unlimited media net is 15/mo.

    It doesnt have a flash, doesnt have video or MMS, and 99% of people that wont it dont live in an area covered by 3g. Its hype.

    That would be Nextel. In terms of the technicals, Sprint and Nextel operate on COMPLETELY different networks.

    iDEN != CDMA/EVDO.

    Yep and the Nextel network is the backbone of Sprint right now. A lot of old push to talk customers going to have to change equipment and go on an inferior network.

    I don't care about PTT. I care about voice and data. CDMA has the best voice quality and EVDO has the fastest data speeds. Sprint uses both.

    Check out the cnet link above. I am eliglble for an upgrade, so I was definitely set on picking up the iPhone to replace my sony ericsson w800i. The article states that you need to pay for text messaging on top of the data plan. I think I am going to pass up on the phone now. There is no way I'm paying $100/month for a phone w/450 anytime, 5000 night and weekends, and 200 text messages. I figured the $30 data on top of my plan would include texts...especially since they aren't even MMS. (sorry for the rant)

    the 12 legit nextel users arn't really gonna strain anything. The rest of the nog's simply don't pay their bill and get suspended every-other month, anyway.... So it's not a problem.

    There are 100,000's of iden users right now, sprint is only working with low 30's spectrum. Do the homework do the math
