I don't know shit about guns. What kind of shotgun should I start with?

I live in California. Is it gonna be a bitch to get a gun out here?

Cali you have to do the waiting period, and some semi's are off limits. Depending on your budget I would recomend one of the following mossberg 500, 590, or a 870. 500 will run you around $200ish, 590 and 870 400ish. 500 is adequate for home defense but if you plan to go to the range and puts rounds through it often, I'd opt for the 590 or 870.

It is really just for home defense, atm. I may go shooting occasionally, but probably just a few times a year.

you should at least take it out frequently enough to be confident enough that you know you'll hit what youre aiming at.

Damn they got that expensive? I paid $300 for mine, and it's got the factory +2 extension and 18" barrel.
