But I don't want one that ends up scratching the Mac itself. I see plenty of iPhone cases that when you take em off they've actually scratched the iPhone, rendering em pointless to begin with.

    So.. suggestions?

I use a neoprene Incase sleeve myself. I was worried about the zipper scratching my MacBook, but it's been fine so far after nearly a year of use.

I can point you to Colcasac at http://colcasac.com/ if you'd like something that has no metal parts at all. I haven't used it, but it seems like it would get the job done. They also do not look like computer bags so that's a bonus in the security department.

they have poor quality control or something, my gf's had tiny clear bubbles the the plastic that dug into the aluminium over a couple of months.. if you do get one check the inside throughly and razorblade off any bumps before you put it on.

My brother has had one on his for over 3 months. Claims there is not a scratch on it. Of course, he rarely takes it off.

Agreed. Those are fucking awesome looking.

Would it be a bad idea to just get a sleeve and not bother with an actual hard case?

PS: Incase doesn't make a case for the aluminum macbooks.. not a hard case anyway.

My mistake. I automatically assumed you meant a bag/sleeve.

I keep mine in a sleeve while it's not in use and mine doesn't have a scratch on it (It's the aluminum MacBook though). When I want to transport it, I simply put the sleeve into a backpack that has a padded laptop compartment.

I personally am not a fan of the cases/covers. They don't offer any protection to the internal components if the computer is dropped or whatever - they are merely there to protect the aesthetic value. And what's the point of keeping the MacBook looking 100% if you aren't going to look at it anyway? (I plan on keeping mine until it's dead, so that's my logic - not planning on selling it)

I recommend getting a nice sleeve/bag and just storing it in there when not in use. Enjoy the look and feel that you paid for!

This. Same applies to phones and any other device.
