Well a car friend of mine was shooting a D60 with a Tokina 28-300 but then switched to his 50mm F/1.8 MK II. I noticed it and he offered to let me give it a shot, sweet! He couldn't use my 17-85mm but I had my 28-135 F/3.5-5.6 IS in the bag so he played with that while I was using his 50.

I've been tempted to buy it a few times, but every time I get to the checkout I always have second thoughts. I know it's only $80, but I really hated using that style focus ring on the kit lens and figured it wouldn't be any better on the 50, but surprisingly it wasn't a big deal and I really didn't mind.

Here's one of the shots I took

I wish I would have had a chance to use it indoors but oh well. I like it, it's a fun change in pace, and while I usually shoot wide, I think it would actually come in handy and be nice to have.

Unfortunately, if I buy one from B&H there are 11ndty billion other things that will work their way into my cart, and I've been saving pennies for a 70-200 F4L, so I think I'll have to wait a few months :hs:

For $70, you can't go wrong. Sure, it's cheap plastic and the zoom is noisy but who cares. The only thing that sucks is paying $25 for the god damn lens hood :o

$70 wasted if it's not useful to you

I am debating selling my 50...I just got the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 and I end up using that for more of the situations where I was using the 50 before.

here is a shot indoors at a casino in Vegas 2 weeks ago. Was only able to snap one pic before I was surrounded by pit bosses and casino crew waving thier hands at me and saying "NO PICTURES".
