Title says it all - do I get a membership to Ballys, 24 hour fitness, pay fo rthe nationwide version of a YMCA membership?

    What works best?

I usually stay in a place for a month or more at a time, but the hotels usually have crappy 'fitness centers.'

I have a 6 day routine, 3 days cardio, 3 days heavy lifting with very light cardio.

    Thanks!

How large are the cities? Do they usually have a Bally's, Gold's, World, etc.? I'm pretty sure most people on here would advise against a Bally's membership.

What is your job, by the way?

Depends - I've been to Nashville, Columbia, SC, New Orleans. Usually good sized cities, but I normally stay in the suburbs. I will be in Glendale, CA for the next month or so.

    I am an insurance adjuster.

but they have edged off plates that always cause the bar to become diagonal when deadlifting. It fucking sucks balls.

Other than that, the 24's I've been to seem to be pretty good in terms of equipment. They have shitloads of bull shit machines but also always have at least one or two squat racks and the like.

I have a 24hr fitness membership. Now is a good time to get one since it's the holidays and they don't charge any activation/sign up fees or anything like that...

I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to be strong. You'll be thankful the older you get because it will help your body to be "healthier" (ie : less chances of broken a bone, better joints, better posture, etc)

Huh? I don't not want to be strong. I just don't want to be broly.

You don't have to be muscled up to be in good shape.

At the Golds I go to, their plates have three flat edges making them not round. When you set the bar down, they tend to rotate to the flat spots, making the bar crooked.

Unless he means if one part is on the flat edge and one is on the round edge, one side of the barbell would be 1.2" lower than the other. :dunno:

I couldn't find and good pics.

DL's are one of my favorite lifts to do because they strengthen the muscles in the lumbar area of the spine, which is the area where a ridiculously high amount of humans suffer pain/injury at some point in their life.

If you want to be in "good shape" then deadlifts will help make you a more physically capable person. Also deadlifting taught me how to start moving from the hips rather than moving from my lower back, which will save me spinal injuries and has increased my hip mobility/awareness tremendously. THAT is part of being in good shape. Just because you're thin and have great cardiovascular health doesn't mean your in good shape, either.

    for serios.
