i dont think ive ever tried to cram so much shit into my brain at one instant in time as i am now.

    Lab-d, Lab-d, HDLC, SDLC, X.25, X.121, X.agkjdfgnd, PLP, ATM, GFI, Frame relay, DLCI, ISDN, I. 431

i honestly think im going to have a seizure.

i would be impressed if there was anyone actively browsing comp and programming that understands all that (and no they dont all relate there random shit from a bunch of different techs).

    So very true.

I work as a Communications Distribution Design Engineer.. design, engineer, and spec switched telecommunication network setups and datacommunication networks from the ground up. Everything from 5-drop offices to large campuses (GSU, Findwhat.com, etc).

    Yourself?

EDIT: For the record, there are a few of us on here.. Rev Johnny Vegas, and Balzz and Tom Ridge.

oh ya, ive talked to ballz and RGV before when i had my older account, but i didn't think they ventured into this part of OT that often.

Currently I'm just a student so i don't have any 'real-world' experience. However i will be done my diploma next year and i hope to be able to find a good position where i will always be able to learn. Then after a few years im considering going back to school for a 3 year part time computer forensics degree, but we'll have to see what happens in the following years.

but i would basically love to be doing the same thing you guys are doing, a lot of telecomm and data comm design and engineering, a lot of ATM experience like RGV, and a lot of CISCO stuff like ballz.

this is my program right now, i will finish with a diploma of technical studies, i should be able to have CCNP, CNE, and MSCE by the time i finish. Its not however just a course to get your certs (you gotta do that on your own time) we also cover a lot of things (like this datacomm course i just finished) and we do a lot of advanced cabling courses and etc.

this is the degree course i would like to finish with eventually
    http://programs.bcit.ca/845BBTECH
i would graduate with a Bachelor of Technology Degree.

Wow there are some good classes in there. Sounds like a good program.

Pay attention to those layer one classes. :eek3: Most IT professionals know jack shit about how to make a patch cord, none-the-less wire their own office. You could be a hero one day, saving your company tens of thousands of dollars. :bigok:

ya, those layer one cabling courses seemed fairly easy last year, but i love just sitting there with some blueprints and desinging, all make sure to head your advice and pay extra attention in those courses. In our Data Comm course we already spent a lot of time studying the rs-232 interface, going from db-9 to db-25, connecting with dongle's to cisco aux ports and etc, well doing it our teacher said the same thing "this may make you an office hero one day if you get some equipment shipped and they dont include the rollover cable and all the stores are closed, etc".

Balzz AND Tom Ridge? What aboot Mikel?

    BTW ds3:
That degree you are taking sounds great. That is exactly the kinda stuff I want to go into. But since I am not going to a technical university the closet I can get is a degree in IT, then go for some advanced certs. Best of luck to you.

wouldnt the managers come above the programmers, even in your twisted view? Also, networking and data comm would be in the same office, and tech support is always at the bottom, just above programming scum.

get marks back tomorrow, so we'll see.
