i simply dont have room for it with my sks and ak, so im going to sell it. the thing is i dont know how much i should ask for it. its missing the original front sight/muzzle break, its im fine condition besides that and I have a few mags too. should o take it to a shop (and risk getting a lower ammount) or try a private sale?

You'll surely get more out of a private sale. Check gunbroker for listings of similar rifles and start there for a price. Look for local firearm forums or try the local equipment exchange of ar15.com for a good place to list it.

Sell it on ar-15.com to a local.

Free and people watch the equipment exchange like hawks.

Is it factory stock, or have you made any modifications (aside from the front sight)? They're going for $750-800 new around here, and there doesn't appear to be any kind of shortage, so I wouldn't be surprised if you could get in the neighborhood of about $600 for it.

But I do think a private sale is likely the best way to go.

I took my 870 to a shop, it was in mint condition 18.5" barrel, 28" barrel, +2 extension, probably at least $400 worth of stuff and I only put maybe 100 rounds through it. The shop offered $150 for it . Sold it locally for $350 in a day through michigangunowners.

yeah its stock also comes w/ 3 ruger 5 rd mags. but theres a scratch on the barrel from where it looks like the aftermarket sight was put on badly and came off.
