    My brother got me a book on Pilates for christmas and I set it aside without giving it much thought. At the time I was in hardcore bulk mode and doing girly yoga shit was the last thing I wanted then. Now that I'm cutting again I think I might be able to befit from this. Since I started cutting I've been putting a bigger focus on general health and wellness. I've lowered the intensity on the weights and I'm doing a lot more cardio, and I figured Pilates might be a welcome addition to my routine.

    I don't agree with a lot of the shit Pilates instructors preach about how Pilates is so much better for you than pumping iron. I know that's all bullshit, but like I said... It couldn't hurt to give this stuff a try. :dunno:. My brother's been doing it for a couple years now and he's a former fatass. I guess I owe it to him to at least try it.

    Anyone else do Pilates? :dunno:

    It's supossed to help your balance. My mother and my girlfriend both do it, but I haven't tried it.

    I had planned on doing pilates/yoga during cutting as well. May as well get really flexible and improve my balance while I'm trying to lose weight.

    I prefer yoga over pilates. :dunno: That's just me. The apparatus can blow me.

    Wow, I'm actually a little surprised there hasn't been any hate. :o I'm pretty excited about getting to the point where I don't need to look at the book or watch the tape anymore and I can just go at my own pace. :coold:

    I did my first attempt and wow... I didn't get too far into the workout... Here's what I did in order

    The Hundred
    The roll-up
    Single leg circles
    Rolling like a ball
    Single leg stretch
    Double leg stretch
    Crisscross
    The swandive (I tried to, anyway :hsugh: Not a good position for guys.)
    Single leg kick
    Double leg kick
    Spine stretch
    Open leg rocker
    The corkscrew
    The saw

    Single leg kicks
    Double leg kicks (these feel awesome on your back)

    Then it got to the sidekick series and I decided that was enough for tonight. These things totally kicked my ass. I feel it a lot right now in my pelvic area and my lower abs. I'm gonna be sore tomorrow. :o I'm very motivated to keep at this, though. These are actually pretty fun to do.

    What sort of routine are you planning on doing for this? Like after your workout or on your off days? Kinda interested in doing pilates to improve my flexibility, but not sure when I should fit it in.

    It doesn't matter. I plan on doing it ~4 times a week, not neccesarily with my other workouts or anything. If I just have a spare 30 mins I'll probably sit down and do Pilates. :dunno:

    I've taken a couple piyo (pilates and yoga combined, but mostly yoga) classes with my girlfriend. After about an hour, my sweat is dripping all over the floor as if I've been running for a while.
