I love the idea of refinishing a beater surplus rifle to its original issue condition.

And 12 rounds in a battle rifle bolt .308 is something I like.

That's where he got it.. I'm thinking about it heavily. 170 bucks for a nice piece of history that needs some work.

    Let's see it!

There are a few odd firearms that catch my eye, and that's one I'd like to own, in a caliber that's reasonably affordable, and widely available.

I definately need to pick one of those up. .308 isn't THAT hard to find. I always see it at the gun shows and there's a local shop that always has several cases in stock for $36 per battle pack.

I meant the .308 being available.. This is the first .308 Enfield I've seen. What defines an A1?

Beats me on how the nomenclature works. I've heard something about 42 meaning No.4 Mk2 etc etc. But the L42a1 is essentially a re-arsenalled British No. 4 Mk (t) sniper rifle recbarreled etc in .308 and then re-issued. Only 1000 or so were made and were in service with the UK and Australia from about 1970- early 1990s.

I'm finally home from the office after 2 days so I'm gonna go take a nap and will drag it out of the safe in a couple of hours.

He lives in WA, close to Olympic Arms, he dropped by their shop and had them add in his parts.

I'm going to try Duracoating mine.

Well, I ordered it, since 300 for rifle and 560 rounds was a damn good deal, no matter how you slice it.
