So I was talking to my wife "Dawn" yesterday, and told her how much my Christmas bonus was this year. What do do with all the money, I asked? The FIRST thing Dawn said was "well, we need another gun, and some ammo, then we need to pay off the Jetski." Damn. I almost wept happy tears. The first thing out of her mouth is another gun.

    So, now a question.
    My "weapons cache"so far
    Rock River AR15
    old 12ga shotgun
    Ruger P95 9mm pistol
    kid's 22LR single shot
    kid's 22LR bolt-action

I'm thinking of a Kel-Tec .223 cal. rifle, or maybe the Remington pump action .223 cal. Both would work with my current AR15 mags and ammo. The pump would be ambi (I'm a lefty and so is my son) and have a really good punch for a .223.

I'm totally open for suggestions, though. Gotta make my wife happy!:bigthumb:

Do not really care for the keltec su16 223. Took a good hard look at it as in CA this was really interesting before the whole OLL thing happened. A few buddies without registered AW's got some and you just can't attach a scope to it and hope for it to hold zero with the polymer rail. Weak sauce.

The remington pump 223 is interesting but got to ask, why?

Of your current stable your missing a AK, a 1911, a glock, and a long range bolt gun.

.22 pistol might not be a bad idea either if he wants to teach the kid, and fun to plink with for himself too.

    What is your price range?

What kind of AR do you have, you could always buy an upper or two for it and make it into several guns.

You could get a new pistol, I (erm I mean we, I mean I bought my GF one for our anniversary) have a SA .22lr revolver. I love that gun loads of fun and cheap to feed.

If you want to stick with the AR, but go to a different platform, there is the Sig 556 (and there are a couple others) I am on the waiting list for one and at least one other member here has one.

What do you want to do with the new gun (plink, Home Defense, Hunting, ect.)?

Depends on what you like to shoot and what your price range is.

    If its for plinking, get a full-size .22LR like a Ruger 10/22.

I absolutely love shooting trap/skeet/5-stand, so my vote would be for an autoloading or over/under 12ga that's 26-28" in length. I love the Winchester Super X2 I got new for $560, and my dad's Benelli M2 Field is an absolute blast to shoot as well for ~$1k new.

If you want to do long range shooting or hunting, get a .308 bolt action rifle. A Remington 700 or Savage 10FP would do well here.

Or get yourself another 9mm pistol. I love shooting my Sig P229 SAS and my dad's P226 Elite.

Bolts are out, since there are two people in the house that are left-handed. I'm not going to get a lefty bolt-action, either. That's why I like that remington 7615 pump so much- totally ambi.
