Same here. Woke up at 3:30 AM and ordered a Uberti 1858 New Army clone in .44 Blackpowder from Midway for about $190 including shipping (after $130-something of store credit). And a few 1911 mags.

My bank account is in pain, lately.

My big web purchases tend to come after a few drinks.

It's definitely easier than building AKs. I think the hardest part is making a trigger guard but they make pre-made DIY ones now that just screw in. It should be pretty easy to make one yourself with a little scrap metal and couple rivets though.

I'm just worried about refinishing it and covering up the holes.

I really haven't looked into the conversion much yet. I just paid for mine yesterday and now it's being shipped. I'll try and type up an EDU when I end finding some time for the conversion. I have lots of extra wood AK furniture but I think I'm gonna go synthetic on this one.
