was at the range and the guy shooting next to us was practicing with his military issued m9 9mm and m4.....he was curious about my friends new kimber pro carry and my cz sp01 so we let him shoot a few rounds with it and he let us test out his

i gotta say the beretta was smoooooth, recoil was non-existance and very accurate, surprisingly less recoil than my steel frame cz.....wasn't too fond of the safety on the slide though

the m4 had 3 burst mode but the range we were at only allows semi-auto :( ...... however, it was my first time using a 4x acog and green tip 5.56 ammo so that was pretty cool

The M9s aren't too shabby... i've gotta improve my aim (barely qualled sharpshooter in June) but it's a simple weapon. Quick to break down and clean. The recoil is light and it's comfortable in the hand.

The only one(s) i've ever fired are our beat to hell issued weapons... if you remember what i was saying about the condition of our 16's, the 9's are no better. But i have never heard any complaints about a misfire, or jam on the m9s. It's a pleasant gun to shoot. Looked into buying one a month or so back. Almost did, but i didn't realize i was broke at that point and had to put it off. :hs:

Did you get to load the magazine for the M9? The springs in them are a PAIN, without a speedloader loading 10full magazines will leave your fingers hurting

No... when we're qualifying they have a few guys loading them for us for efficiency's sake. I can't imagine it'd be any harder than loading my M&P mags, which are pretty stiff. :dunno:

    I still don't like 'em. Double-single FTL

Yeah my Taurus pt-99 is smooth as hell to shoot. The pt-99 is Taurus' clone of a 92fs except the safety is mounted on the frame instead of the slide. If you want a Beretta without the slide safety you may want to look into the Taurus versions. :big grin:

it goes bang every time but the double action pull of 9.5 lbs leaves much to be deisred.

for Air Force pistol quals your first shot has to be double action except for the two times that you fire three shots, reload, and then re-engage for another three shots.

:mamoru: In the army they have us cock it before we start shooting... They don't require us to pull double action if we can avoid it.

we were specifically informed that they would smack anybody that touched the hammer...

and in the pistol qual you engage with two shots to the chest and one to the head...

That's one of my only gripes about them.
I really like my Cougar, which shares a very smilar platform, just shorter, and I can't stand the heavy DA pull.
If there was any option like HK offers, to replace the DA/SA with just a DAO of sorts, I'd be all for it.

  17. Its too bad the Army switched from the 1911 to this...

yeah and with the safety/decocker on the slide it had a bad tendency to go from fire to safe when I pulled it back and released...
