currently have a 40D. rapid fire shutter speed is okay, but faster sure would be nicer.

    for the $$, wouldn't i be better off with a 1dII?

    8.5fps on the 1 vs 8 on the 7d.

video would be useless to me, i think.

the 'n' just adds a bigger screen and a few other features, right? nothing terribly exciting, though.

what lenses are you shooting with? do you need extra reach? if so, the 7D may be the best bet.

i really want to shoot some golf.

7d fosho. Dont just go by FPS, image quality on the 7D I would imagine is better than the older bodies.

    usually the 70-200 and 24-70. 10-22 if i'm playing as well. :o

i'm usually pretty close. I'm shooting a pretty big (3-day) tourney next year, so I'll probably buy the 100-400, and stick that on my 40D.

I should have prefaced this thread by saying i'm probably keeping the 40D regardless of if i buy another body or not.

Because of all the new things it has in it. Dual processors, better sensor, smaller camera, and almost the same burst rate. Why wouldn't you want a new thing?

    1) It's better and newer.

    2) Having the option to shoot video has made me double what my 7 cost me a month ago.

    I love your logic...8.5fps vs 8.

I think you should stick with you 40D until you get little bit more smarter.
